Site location: Lower Boyle Heights
Design Intend: Finding a solution for overwhelming issues of gentrification in the lower Boyle heights area. The demolishing of the 6th street bridge and the the replacement bridge has brought an interest to this area. The purpose of this design is to design housing with different intends such as students, families, or artists. The site is 325' length and 15' width . Affordable student housing due to the close range of near by schools such as, USC and Sci Arch. The approach was to bridge the lower Boyle heights (commercial area) and the art district which is primary an urban area into one location. The design is a mix use building giving the ability for a live work approach. Galleries are located at the top floor and markets at the ground area. The living units located in between .
